On Thursday 22nd February we hosted the next in our series of InnoTech events, which focussed on Pegasus software users. The event took place at the Westerwood Hotel in Cumbernauld where over 40 attendees were brought up to speed with the latest software updates from Pegasus as well as important upcoming legislative changes.

The day began with an overview of Opera 3 SQL Server Edition, where Steve Power explained the advantages of being able to store data in MS SQL Server, so that business transactions can be easily accessible and used in conjunction with other SQL Server databases or third party applications.

Comply with changes

Attendees were keen to hear how Pegasus and Castle can help them comply with changes to legislation including Making Tax Digital, Government Gateway changes and the General Data Protection Regulation.

Making Tax Digital is a key part of the government’s plans to make it easier for individuals and businesses to get their tax right and keep on top of their affairs. In short, it means income and expenditure will have to be recorded digitally. Steve highlighted that “Making Tax Digital is expected to bring in an extra £2billion in tax per year…  all businesses paying VAT will need to be filing with Making Tax Digital compatible software from April 2019”.

With GDPR drawing ever closer Steve also discussed key considerations that our customers should be making:

“To prepare for GDPR, Opera 3 customers need to consider their data security and right of access for employees, customers and suppliers.”

Hints and tips

Our Castle consultants provided a helpful session on preparing for payroll year end and also gave hints and tips on how to get the most our of Pegasus XRL reporting.
