For the third year running (or should that be walking?) a team from Castle will be participating in the St Andrew’s Hospice Midnight Walk, taking place on 16th June.
The charity event is now in its 10th year and challenges those taking part to walk a route of 8, 10 or 13 miles around North Lanarkshire after dark. Whilst traditionally the Midnight Walk has only been open to women, to celebrate its 10th year it has been opened up to men as well – hopefully making 2018 its biggest ever year! Walkers can take part in memory of a friend or loved one, or simply to keep fit and do something a little different on a Saturday night.
This year the Castle team includes Alison Adam, Pauline Aird, Linda Findlay, Melanie McCall, Lyndsey Massie, Karen Rodger, Isabelle Samuel and Alison Scott, who will attempt to complete the half marathon distance of 13 miles around Carfin, New Stevenston, Holytown, Mossend and Motherwell to raise funds for St Andrews Hospice and Mary’s Meals.
The money raised from the event provides much needed income for the Hospice, helping them provide a high standard of specialist palliative care to the people of Lanarkshire.
As Castle’s chosen charity, we will also be contributing part of the funds we raise to Mary’s Meals, who do tremendous work to provide daily school meals to some of the world’s poorest children.
Over the finish line
If you would like to sponsor our team, please visit our JustGiving fundraising page. Your support would be very much appreciated and every penny donated will help push the team over the finish line on the night.
Will the team make it? Check back after the 16th June to find out!
