Digital Transformation has become the latest buzzword in Social Housing, but what does it really mean? It can bring opportunities to improve customer service and tenant engagement, empower employees and deliver organisational wide efficiencies, but what’s the best way to go about it?

We recently helped housing providers in London and Manchester get beyond the buzz and understand the opportunities with our Digital Transformation tour, which cut through the jargon and explored the practicalities of implementing innovative technologies to successfully achieve transformation.

Something for everyone

The jam-packed agenda offered something for everyone, with role-specific breakout streams demonstrating how transformation can be applied across an organisation by showcasing technologies which can help enable an efficient, secure shift to digital services.

Over 50 attendees heard an engaging keynote from our friends at 3C Consultants which explored their experiences of Digital Transformation and their twelve golden rules for success.

Relying on technology

According to their Vision for Housing in 2025 report (November 2016), 94% of housing organisations are currently planning or implementing a transformation programme, and a survey of over 250 housing professionals revealed that 97% are relying on technology to create efficiencies. Our sessions explored the benefits and demonstrated how a range of solutions including infrastructure hyper-convergence, mobile working, tenant self-service and financial management software could fit the bill.

With GDPR looming on the horizon, the event also provided insight and advice on how housing associations can prepare for the May 2018 deadline for compliance.

Realistic goals

The key takeaway of the day was that Digital Transformation is different for every organisation and should be planned and implemented based on realistic goals with demographic and customer segment taken into consideration.
