Castle cloud means secure remote access at Homes for Scotland
Case Study: IT & Cloud Services
Homes for Scotland is the authoritative voice of the home building industry in Scotland.
With a membership of 160 organisations together providing 95% of new homes built for sale in Scotland each year, Homes for Scotland is committed to improving the quality of living in Scotland by providing this and future generations with smart and sustainable homes in places where people want to live. Their aim is to create an environment in which the home building industry can prosper and make a significant contribution to the social, environmental and economic well-being of Scotland.
The extreme winter conditions in 2010 prevented staff from getting into the office for several days, which had an impact on day to day operations,so the organisation wanted to create a robust system that would facilitate remote access.
Kathryn McMickan, Office Manager, Homes for Scotland said:
“We identified a need for greater flexibility in accessing office systems so that in the event of another episode of severe weather our staff would be able to work effectively from home, without having to risk the conditions to get into work.
“We looked at a number of options and chose Castle, who have worked with us for several years and always demonstrated an understanding of our needs, to implement their Private Cloud solution.
“We now have a IT system that staff can access securely from home if there is any difficulty in getting into the office. Because our data is stored in Castle’s secure servers, it is automatically backed up off site every day and can be replicated quickly if required. The move to the cloud has also created consistency across all of our users so that everyone is working on the same version of applications and they will all be kept up to date.
“The new system gives us confidence that our business continuity systems are robust and we don’t have to worry about maintenance or depreciation on hardware.”
