Havelock Europa chooses Castle for virtual desktop solution
Case Study: IT & Cloud Services
Havelock Europa PLC has chosen Castle Computer Services to implement a new desktop virtualisation solution that will bring greater efficiency and performance to the organisation.
Graeme Carruthers, Group IT Manager at Havelock Europa PLC, chose Castle’s Citrix ‘VDI in a Box’ solution after reviewing the market to identify the best option for the company. He said:
“We had been looking for a solution that would provide better remote access for both Windows and non-windows devices, allow us to migrate the IT estate from Windows XP and deliver improved control, standardisation and support for applications.
“We wanted a solution that would allow us to use existing desktop terminals and, in so doing, extend the life of the hardware while at the same time creating significant improvements to the system and the user experience.
“We spoke to a number of vendors and developed a proof of concept with one, but Castle demonstrated a real understanding of our needs. They proposed a solution that was very cost effective and not over complicated with enterprise add-ons that we don’t require.
“Our staff will be able to access the network from anywhere and see exactly the same desktop. Those that are working off site with iOS or Android devices will have full access, making their lives easier and improving efficiency and productivity.
“By using the existing desktop machines as terminals we avoid having to invest in new hardware and the cost of ownership over the long term will be lower.
“As a small IT team we will benefit from the efficiencies that come from desktop virtualisation with a significant reduction in housekeeping. This will make the team able to focus on more value add activities.
“Castle demonstrated an impressive track record of experience and came up with a solution that meets all of our needs.”
