Martin Plant Hire moves to the Cloud
Case Study: IT & Cloud Services
Martin Plant Hire is an independent business that has been hiring tools, plant and equipment to customers throughout Scotland for over 30 years.
With headquarters in Motherwell and 12 depots around the country, Martin Plant Hire carries a huge range of stock and is renowned for its high quality service. Every item that is hired out is fully assessed against current Health and Safety standards to ensure compliance at all times.
The company wanted to upgrade its IT infrastructure and data back-up strategy. It also needed to enhance its disaster recovery capabilities with a future proofed solution that would be scalable to meet the requirements of continued business growth.
Castle was chosen to implement its secure private cloud solution, moving the business’ IT infrastructure to a secure data centre for high level resilience and efficiency.
Craig Lenathen, Financial Controller, Martin Plant Hire, said:
“Having reviewed our existing IT systems, we identified a need to create a stable and secure platform for our equipment hire software, along with other critical applications such as finance and payroll.
“The move to a hosted service was one that ticked all the boxes. It particularly met our needs for an efficient, scalable solution that would provide robust resilience and effective disaster recovery.
“The flexibility of the hosted service removes the necessity for expensive upgrades and we now have absolute confidence in our ability to recover data quickly in the event of a critical incident at our offices. In the event of a problem, our staff can access data and systems quickly from any location that has and Internet connection.
“Castle worked closely with our team throughout the move, starting with a Hosted Readiness Assessment, which defined the project requirements, the process for implementation and ensured a smooth transition.
“We now have an IT infrastructure that meets our business objectives both now and for the future. Castle manages the entire IT infrastructure, which allows us to focus on day to day business priorities without distraction.”
