SunSystems Makes the Grade for Forth Valley College
Case Study: Infor SunSystems
Forth Valley College (FVC) is the fifth largest college in Scotland, delivering more than 750 courses from its main campuses in Alloa, Falkirk, Raploch and Stirling. The college provides all-round, flexible education, specifically designed to help individuals discover their potential at a time and pace suitable to their lifestyle and commitments.
Forth Valley College was established as a result of the merger of Falkirk and Clackmannan colleges, both of which used different financial management systems. As part of the merger process FVC needed to create one central system to manage its finances that would meet a range of demanding needs.
The college identified a specific need for improved levels of reporting with Vision, as well as an online procurement solution that would automate the existing paper based system. FVC chose to upgrade the existing SunSystems solution used in Clackmannan College to version 5, creating one central system and adding the ePurchasing module.
Alison Stewart, Head of Finance at Forth Valley College said:
“Before the merger, the two colleges operated on different systems, SunSystems and Aptos, and identified that the best solution to meet our specific needs would be to upgrade SunSystems and create a centralised system.
“The upgrade to Castle’s SunSystems v5 College Solution created a powerful central reporting system that is user friendly and meets the needs of our finance team. It also integrates smoothly with other software applications, such as the student record system, delivering key information to budget holders in real time.
“The paper based invoice and purchase order system was inefficient.. The introduction of the online procurement solution has done away with the cumbersome paper system and had a dramatic effect on improving efficiency.
“Castle worked closely with our team throughout the development and implementation of the new system and ensured that the transition was smooth and trouble free. We are confident that the system will continue to meet our needs in the future and are about to introduce the sales management module as part of our ongoing SunSystems development programme.”
