Upgrade delivers data analysis improvements for Blackwood Homes
Case Study: Infor SunSystems
Blackwood Homes provides accessible and affordable housing to people with disabilities and people with general housing needs, with different levels of care and support, where needed.
The organisation operates over 1,600 properties ranging from studio flats to five bedroom family houses. These are located in around 100 mixed community developments across Scotland.
Blackwood had been using SunSystems v4 for many years, however the need to upgrade for compatibility with a new version of Windows, along with a business need for improved reporting and analysis, prompted a move to upgrade to SunSystems v6. SunSystems v6 operates a unified ledger at the core of the solution that combines the functions of all ledgers to immediately show the full impact of any financial posting. It gives a clear view of the business at all times.
Castle was chosen by Blackwood to re-engineer the organisation’s chart of accounts with SunSystems v6, delivering significant improvements in reporting and analysis.
Ian Harrington, Finance Manager at Blackwood, said:
“The existing SunSystems solution had served the organisation well for many years but there was a real need to improve the quality of reporting. Having established three operational regions to be closer to our customers, the upgrade allows us to segment and analyse operations effectively, providing a level of up-to-date detail that wasn’t previously possible.
“We can now quickly produce meaningful and relevant reports for executives using Q&A so that they have them in the timescale required. The flexibility of the system allows us to produce budget information that is relevant to the needs of the particular manager.
“We have worked with Castle for many years and they have always demonstrated a high level of expertise in SunSystems, particularly in the housing sector. Any issues that arose during the implementation were quickly resolved and Castle has always been prepared to be flexible in order to meet our needs.”
