Virtualisation delivers efficiency for EQ Accountants
Case Study: IT & Cloud Services
EQ Accountants LLP is one of the largest 25 accounting practices in Scotland with a team of over 60 staff, who operate from offices in Dundee and Forfar, providing a full range of services to clients.
More than 50% of the team are qualified accountants and the firm provides experienced, high quality advice to clients across a full range of sectors including agriculture, healthcare, corporate finance and taxation.
Castle was appointed to implement a full VMware virtualised infrastructure, along with enhanced Disaster Recovery arrangements.
Graeme Ferrier, IT Manager, EQ Accountants said:
“We had reached a stage where much of the hardware estate needed to be replaced and we had been looking at the benefits that virtualisation could bring to our business.
“After considering a number of options, we chose Castle because they offered the best combination of specialist experience and value.
“The move to virtualisation has allowed us to reduce our server estate from 15 down to 3 and create offsite disaster recovery arrangements that have significantly enhanced business continuity.
“The virtualised system runs quicker and gives much higher local availability. It is easier to manage and completely scalable to meet future needs as the business grows. In the long term we expect to benefit from savings in power costs as fewer servers mean that we don’t require as much air conditioning to keep them cool.
“The creation of the off site disaster recovery arrangements gives us complete confidence that in the unlikely event of a system failure the business can be up and running within a matter of hours.
“Castle made sure that the move to virtualisation was undertaken smoothly with no downtime for staff and quickly resolved any issues that arose during the implementation.
“We now have a highly efficient system that meets our business needs going forward, with the peace of mind that everything is backed by robust disaster recovery.”
