Did you know that 75% of organisations do not have a complete understanding of cyber security risks?
The volume and sophistication of recent breaches making the headlines has made it clear that cyber security is no longer just IT’s responsibility. The potential damage to an organisation in terms of downtime and public perception means cyber security should be on the agenda for all Executives. All boards owe it to their stakeholders to ensure they have a cyber security checklist and plan in place.

Secure Business Continuity for Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland
Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland (CHSS), headquartered in Edinburgh, with regional offices in Glasgow and Inverness, is one of Scotland’s leading medical charities. CHSS improves the quality of life for people in Scotland affected by chest heart and stroke illness, through medical research, influencing public policy, advice and information and support in the community.
Across Scotland, more than 14,000 people benefit from the services provided by CHSS. In addition, campaigning initiatives result in greater understanding of the heath issues and how to tackle them. CHSS advice line nurses respond to around 2,500 calls and over 1,000 volunteers work on a range of initiatives to support people with chest heart and stroke illness.
CHSS chose Castle to provide IT support for its VMware virtual network, after experiencing difficulties with their incumbent supplier. The team at Castle was able to stabilise and optimise the infrastructure so that it operates at the level required to maintain the day-to-day business of the organisation.
As part of a review of business continuity arrangements, CHSS opted to subscribe to Castle’s DataGuard service to ensure protection in the event of a catastrophic system failure. The DataGuard service securely replicates data via encryption and validates and verifies it at a tier 3 secure data centre.
Liz Hepburn, ICT Manager at CHSS, said:
“Castle has provided an excellent support service and when we identified a need to upgrade our business continuity arrangements we chose their DataGuard solution for peace of mind.
“We can now have absolute confidence that all of our data is being replicated off site on a continuous basis and is fully encrypted to provide required security. Because the data is validated and the replication is verified we can rest assured that in the event of a catastrophic failure the organisation can recover systems very quickly.
“DataGuard provides us with a cost effective way of ensuring a robust business continuity plan that meets our high standards of governance across the organisation.”
