Qlik Sense Drives Performance at Horton Housing Association
Horton Housing Association has been providing housing related support services for over 30 years and manages more than 30 different housing, training and support services across Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees and North Yorkshire.
Horton Housing is a not for profit organisation which provides services to the most vulnerable people in society. The organisation works with a wide range of clients including people who are homeless, have mental health, drug or alcohol issues, younger people, older people, refugees as well as Gypsies, Travellers, Roma and Showpeople, ex-offenders and people with disabilities.
Over recent years the organisation had paid significant consultancy fees for bespoke reporting to be added to some of its different systems. They had no way to combine data from these systems other by exporting it into spreadsheets and using pivot tables to extract what was needed, which proved extremely time consuming. A review of KPI reporting prompted interest in a solution that would link all existing systems, producing data for Board reporting and allowing managers to monitor performance.
Jane Stableford, Administration and Systems Analysis Manager at Horton Housing describes how the organisation benefited from choosing Qlik Sense from Castle, which is used by managers to monitor KPIs on an ongoing basis. She said:
“We can restrict data to make it more relevant for its audience, so Senior Managers can view data at an organisational level but Scheme Managers can only see data relating to their Scheme. They can drill into the data to help them understand where there are any performance issues.
“We now have consistency in our reporting and calculations are set up to return accurate data at the click of just a few buttons. Managers have the assurance that they can monitor live data to track performance.
“A clear scope on your requirements and a commitment to work with the Castle consultants is required but now that the system is set up we are saving a significant amount of time as there is no longer a need to manually calculate performance reports across the organisation.
Having quick and easy access to data in this way has really helped teams understand and focus on the importance of KPIs. The ability to see live, rather than historical data, allows our managers to make more effective decisions that will improve performance.”
